Site not responding or OpenID not working?
Gai-jin (2007-08-24):
Found out about this provider on the Security Now! podcast from www.twit.tv Verisign's VIP/PIP system is what Paypal and ebay use as the backend for their security key system. Now that Verisign is doing OPENID through Pip, it works with the same RSA keyfobs as paypal and ebay. (Buy the fob from paypal for $5 instead of from Verisign for $30, unless you need more than one!) Now you get multi factor authentication, real hard-core security, with your standard OpenID login! It also supports the security key being a U3 based flash drive instead of the key fob.
Eddie (2007-08-25):
That's funny, my story is exactly the same as Gai-jin. I guess that saves me from having to type it all in.
Jeremy L. (2007-08-27):
Add me to the list of people with that story. I still like claimID's presentation better though, so I may switch back if they add support for a VeriSign-backed RSA device.
Martin De (2007-08-30):
I'm using verisign as well, nice service and you use the VIP.PIP key as well which makes it even more secure. Have to love secutity now!
Alan Lay (2007-09-01):
Add me too, Though i do have an openid with claimid, verisigns feels more secure with the 'fob' as steve and leo say. Security Now is Awesome :)
GauchoGuy (2007-09-05):
With the addition of the PayPal fob, this is brilliant. I too have a ClaimID account, but I see ClaimID as being more of a place to put all my pages and identities together, whereas PIP is OpenID with some hardcore authentication technology. And I do claim my PIP identities on my ClaimID page, so it all works out.
Sauron Reaver (2007-09-07):
I'm a huge fan of the Security Now podcast. I've been using Verisign's PIP for a while now, and the latest update that added the "Security Key" and "Information Cards" login options are awesome. Oh yeah, the $5 PayPal key is a much better deal than the (ugly in my opinion) maroon Verisign one for $30.

Todd (2007-09-12):
I've started to use them as my delegated openid server now as well after getting my PayPal Fob and linking it to the pip openid. Unfortunately i've run into issues where some sites that worked fine with myopenid.com (my previous OpenID server) no longer work. Saying I need to log in even though i'm allready logged in. Tried it with the seatbelt extension enabled and disabled. Also that seatbelt extension will work with myopenid.com as well. Not voting up or down because of the errors with some sites until I know if it's an issue with the consumer's implementation or verisign's. So be advised this may not work everywhere. The paypal security key for $5 everyone has talked about is available at http://paypal.com/securitykey
Todd (2007-09-27):
Updated to my previous comment. With my current configuration (disabled seatbelt extension) I haven't had the errors logging in. You do still have to login at verisign first before logging into a site--it doesn't automatically bounce you to verisign for authentication. It's an anti-phishing feature and at the current rate I use openid it's not too much of a hassle to make sure to manually login first before visiting sites with my open id.
Robert Grove (2007-11-28):
Like a number of the commenters, I too found out about OpenID, the PayPal Security Key, and PIP from the Security Now Podcast. I really like the level of control Verisign is giving us to select which e-mail address to associate to a given OpenID and the ability to have multiple OpenID's for work or personal (home) use.
Aleia Kay (2007-12-17):
i'm new to all this security id stuff, but i'm using verisign pip for logging here
Kyle Law (2008-01-22):
When I first learned about OpenID honestly I was a bit put off by it's security downfall of using one password however when I found out Verisign had a RSA device that I could use it put my confidence back into OpenID and I would even promote it to banks and other sites that need to remain extremely secure.
Panon Leelamanit (2008-02-06):
I'm new to OpenID. I signed up for the one at OpenID.org but I don't know why it just doesn't work!
Walter Neto (2008-02-08):
hmm.. interesting...
Aleia Kay (2008-02-08):
i found that the id's dont work unless you are signed in to where you made the id first, then go to the sites you want to use and use the id, like using the pip, must be signed in there first, then come here and use the pip to sign in, but it works good, dont have to remember but just one password, i just wish every site that i go to had the pip / open id sign in ! !
Lorraine Jude (2008-02-08):
As for myself, i prefer the verisign pip, its much more secure.
Fábio de Paula e Sousa (2008-07-24):
it definitely love it
